I Play Project

New media project - I Play

This is a follow up to the 'I Remember' project.

>Original Source: I Remember Video

‘I Play’ is a joint project working with the Social Media Centre. We will record the experiences of young and old people, to generate more discussion of memories of play activities and observations of how young people play now.

  • What do you remember about playing when you were young?
  • What games did you / do you play?
  • What street games can you remember?
  • Where did /do you play?
  • Did / do you get in trouble for playing? What are the barriers to playing?

Interested? If you want to take part in this project to help us to record your memories and photographs please get in touch.

We plan to:
· Create a large panel made up of photographs of the participants’ eyes based upon the artistic premise of ‘the eyes are the windows of the soul’ and ‘that which we have seen or witnessed’.
· Produce an audio-visual archive of voices that would not ordinarily be accessible to future generations for Salford Library.
· Make a short film based on these recollections and the photographic archives and resources of the Salford Museum.

Everyone involved in this project will have a chance to contribute to the composition of the short film by creating a piece of artwork or supplying past photographs or personal memorabilia from that time. All items will be returned.

GRUMPY Salford will provide all materials and equipment for this project.

We would like to include as many people as possible in this project, so even if you were not living in the UK in 1945 we would still like to hear from you. If English is not your first language a translator will be provided.
